THE BOOK OF JEREMIAH - ( CHAPTER 1 )

THE BOOK OF JEREMIAH - Jeremiah was a prophet of doom, who was even forbidden to marry so that he could fully devote himself to the preaching of God's judgment                                                        ________________________________________________________  :9 - For thus saith the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel; Behold I will cause to cease out of this place in your eyes, and in your days, the voice of mirth, and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom, and the voice of the bride.                                                                        ________________________________________________________  :10 - And it shall come to pass, when thou shalt show this people all these words, and they shall say unto thee, Wherefore hath the Lord pronounced all this great evil against us? Or what is our iniquity? Or what is our sin that we have committed against the Lord our God?        ________________________________________________________  :11 - Then shalt thou say unto them, Because your fathers have forsaken me, saith the Lord, and have walked after other gods, and have served them, and have worshiped them, and have forsaken me, and have not kept my law;                                                                      ________________________________________________________  :12 - And ye have done worse than your fathers, for, behold, ye walk every one after the imagination of his evil heart, that they may not hearken unto me.                                                                                      ________________________________________________________  After the fall of Jerusalem, Jeremiah was taken by some Jewish zealots of Egypt, where he continued to preach.                                                  ________________________________________________________  1:13--15 - The nature of the Lord's dealing with Judah and Jerusalem is underscored in the second vision. Like a seething pot [ or caldron ] ready to spill over, God's judgment was about to descend from the north against His sin-hardened people. Some have suggested that the phrase [ seething pot ] might better be translated [ kindled thorn ], evoking the image of wildfire consuming the land. Either way, the figure of speech suggests imminent judgment. Jeremiah was commanded to deliver a difficult message in critical times. His would be no easy task.                                                                                      ________________________________________________________

AND THAT'S THE WAY IT WAS!

BUT GOD'S MERCY IS GREAT, AND HE LOVED US VERY MUCH. THOUGH WE WERE SPIRITUALLY DEAD BECAUSE OF THE THINGS WE DID AGAINST GOD, HE GAVE US NEW LIFE WITH CHRIST. YOU HAVE BEEN SAVED BY GOD'S GRACE!
